Domaine de Cros

Marcillac, Aveyron, France When Dominique (great-grandfather of Philippe, the current owner of the estate) bought the Domaine du Cros in 1882, it was the beginning of a beautiful love story between a special terroir and a family of enthusiasts, the Teulier family (whose ancestors were already winegrowers in Aveyron). It was not until 1964 that the first bottling arrived, featuring Lo Sang del Pais, which has become legendary throughout the Vallon de Marcillac. Over the years, the Domaine du Cros continued to grow exponentially, and now has no less than 34 hectares under vine. Since 2006, it has been Julien, the fifth generation of winegrowers at the Domaine, who carries on the family tradition with a clear focus on organic and natural. Aveyron, a little-known area in the south-west of France, hides little gems like this Marcillac. A continental climate, terraces and red limestone soil rich in iron characterise an isolated and sparsely populated area at the foot of the Massif Central, between mountains and high hills, which lives mainly on agriculture.
