Franco Terpin
San Floriano del Collio Franco Terpin is a child of art and has always worked on the family estate in San Floriano del Collio, on the easternmost border of Friuli. At the beginning of the 1970s he took over grape production himself, taking over from his father, first by continuing to bestow it and about 20 years later taking the turning point of his life, that of labelling his own wine. The winery consists of 10 hectares, including Cru Stamas, resting on soil rich in ponka, a mixture of sandstone and marl, perfect for growing grapes such as Ribolla Gialla, Pinot Grigio, Friulano, Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Franco's idea of wine is absolutely natural, from the vineyard to the cellar, no chemicals are used and vinification takes place through long maceration, spontaneous fermentation and indigenous yeasts, with long ageing in wood and without clarification or filtration. Only homeopathic doses of copper and sulphur are used to combat downy and powdery mildew. The result is astonishing wines, proud sons of a magnificent territory, ready to amaze even the most demanding palate
