Broom

Ginestra is an indigenous white grape from Campania also known as Biancatenera, and was already mentioned in 1825 by Acerbi as one of the most typical varieties in the province of Naples. In addition, DNA studies in 2005 revealed a possible relationship with Caprettone, another indigenous Campania grape. HGinestra is widespread along the Amalfi Coast, as far as Positano where it is known by the name Biancazita. Its bunch is small and not very compact, with equally small berries; it shows some resistance to downy mildew but on the other hand is quite susceptible to Botrytis, which has in fact reduced its extension, to date 5 hectares. As can be understood from its name and nicknames, Ginestra gives life to delicate, light wines, sometimes with high sugar residues, with the characteristic floral scent of broom, well predisposed to long ageing that leads them to resemble Rieslings in terms of freshness and hydrocarbon notes. Wonderful in combination with fish first courses.
