Pagadebit is a white berry, best known by the name Bombino Bianco, probably originating in Northern Croatia and more specifically in Dalmatia, where it is known as Puljižinac. As its name suggests, it falls into the category of those grapes that were historically used as currency, similar to the Croatian Debit. The fundamental characteristics of this grape lie in its distinct freshness and white floral and fruity scents. Pagadebit is normally used to make light and easy-drinking wines, but thanks to its excellent acidity it also proves to be an excellent base for sparkling wines. It is included in no less than four Italian DOCs: Pagadebit di Romagna, dry and amabile, and Pagadebit di Romagna Bertinoro, dry and amabile. Wines made from this variety are particularly recommended with fish-based first courses.
