Austrian wine history has very ancient origins, around 500 BC, at the time and thanks to the Celts.
Production was then continued by the Romans, especially in the south-eastern area of present-day Austria, before being put to an abrupt halt by the barbarian invasions; it was only thanks to Charlemagne and the work of the Monks that viticulture was able to regain its footing.
Despite its small size, Austria is the eighteenth largest producer in the world, and stands out for full-bodied, alcoholic and dry wines.
We especially like to remember the great commitment to biodynamic viticulture, and the creation of some of the best Pet Nats that the entire Apewineboxes tasting team remembers.
