A French region beloved for its whites, it is located in the central-eastern part of France, on the border with Germany, from which it is divided by the long course of the Rhine River.
Most of the vineyards are located on the Haut Rhin side of the Rhine; the climate, contrary to what one might imagine, is one of the driest and sunniest in France, thanks to the presence to the west of the Vosges range. This also determines a great thermal and altimetrical variety, with territories that decline in plains, hills and mountains.
The variety of the soil is also important, with volcanic rock, granite, clay and marl coexisting.
Among the most widely used varieties are Reisling, Gewurztraminer and Sylvaner.
