Montalcino, Tuscany

Armilla is the story of a promise. In ancient Rome a gold bracelet awarded to Roman soldiers for military merit, and worn on the left.

The company has 3 hectares of vineyards out of a total of almost 5, of which 2 are intended for Sangiovese Grosso, the rest for Sangiovese and olive groves. It was founded after various vicissitudes in 1980 by Silverio Marchetti. In 1995 one hectare managed to enter the DOCG and the story began.

The area is the South West, towards Grosseto, at altitudes of 320 metres, with a dry and ventilated climate, perfect for the ripening of the grapes

Geologically speaking, the soil is composed of polygenic conglomerates with a prevalence of calcareous, siliceous and arenaceous elements more or less cemented and incorporated by sandy layers. Rich in minerals and with a medium level of fertility, the soil is suitable for growing vines.
