Banyuls 3 Bottles

Within the Langedoc-Roussillon region we find Banyuls, where the vineyards have more than two thousand years of history and were planted by the Greeks and Romans.

Around the middle of the 18th century, the territory of Banyuls and Colliure had about 700 hectares under vine, which grew rapidly to 2500 hectares at the end of the 19th century.

Over the decades, the area has followed the same parabola as the rest of the region; it grew in hectares under vine, went into crisis because of phylloxera, then literally "exploded" over the following centuries until it reached its current productive dimensions.

In 1909, Banyuls became the first appellation for mulled sweet wines and obtained certification in 1936.

Since 1971, the Collioure appellation has been modified to allow the production of red and rosé wines and, since 2003, of white wines.
