Bonavita Faro 2020

Bonavita Faro is a red wine from Bonavita, produced in Faro, in the province of Messina, and obtained from Nerello, Mascalese and Cappuccio, and Nocera grapes. The grapes come from very old plots on clay-limestone soil and are harvested manually. Depending on the vintage, maceration ranges from 20 to 40 days, spontaneous fermentation by indigenous yeasts and refinement for 2 years in 24 hectoliter truncated conical oak vats, finally at least 6 months in the bottle. Bonavita Faro is perfect for baked pasta, with an intense nose of flowers and evolved red fruits, aromatic herbs and mineral puffs, appreciated in the mouth for its drinkability, elegance and persistence

Produced from a sapling vineyard with vines that are up to 80 years old, planted on soils rich in clay and calcareous tuff. Maceration on the skins for 20 to 40 days depending on the vintage, maturation for approximately 24 months in 30 hl truncated conical oak vats and at least six months in the bottle.

Austere nose, dark flowers and red fruits, mulberry and aromatic herbs

A very drinkable wine, elegant and persistent, with dense tannins and a long finish

Faro is a micro-denomination with just 25 hectares and only 5 producers.

Giovanni Scarfone di Bonavita is one of them, a young micro-viticulturist born in 1980, first harvest in 2006, and in this area he owns 7 hectares of which only 2.30 are under vines, the rest are destined for olive groves and woods.

The strange thing is that in this area threatened by concrete, everything tells you about Sicily.
