Chateau d’Yquem is a legend with over 400 years of history, which over the centuries has seen the Sauvage family and the Lur Saluces family alternate in the ownership of the estate, up to the LVMH group, the majority shareholder since 1999. The management is entrusted since 2004 to manager Pierre Lurton.
We are in Sauternes, in the Graves area and we are talking about the only sweet white wine that can boast the recognition of Premier Cru Superieur, based on the 1855 classification.
There are 113 hectares of vineyards, set in an optimal terroir for the development of Botrytis Cinerea, the noble mold that makes this nectar so precious.
The vineyard is ancestrally free from systemic chemistry and is pampered by human attention; the harvest takes place in several steps, the tries, meticulously selecting the best acids, the perfectly dehydrated ones.
Sauternes is only produced when climatic conditions allow it, for example the 12 was not produced. In these years the grapes are used to produce a dry wine, Y di Yquem
