The Riviere family has been present in Saint Emilion since 1875, and bought the Chateau Clos des Menuts in the 1950s, quickly taking it from a single hectare under vine to a total of 25 hectares.
The Chateau dates back to at least 1538, the year in which a writing was found concerning the sale of wine in barrels by the Freres Mineurs of the Franciscan order.
The castle's cellars are crazy, dating back to medieval times and with a constant temperature of 12°.
Since 2007, the winery can boast of working with Stéphane Derenoncourt, considered one of the best oenologists in France. The approach to viticulture is natural, rejecting all forms of systemic chemistry, while in the cellar, winemaking is done in the traditional way.
