Rocca San Giovanni, Abruzzo
Inside the SIC Fosso delle Farfalle protected area, Vincenzo Di Meo leads Controvento, a company producing 16,000 bottles per year from just 5 hectares of vineyard.
The company is certified organic but is biodynamic in its practices, the vineyards are located a few km from the sea benefiting from the breezes. No chemistry is used in the vineyard or in the cellar, where the addition of pre-bottling sulfur is not even permitted.
In Vincenzo’s idea, which we fully share, to obtain healthy grapes you simply need healthy soil and preserved biodiversity.
The grapes grown are those typical of the area, Montepulciano, Trebbiano, Passerina and Fiano, as well as the international Cabernet Sauvignon.
Controvento wines exude love and passion, character and Abruzzo ringworm.
