The Vulcanique Gamay Cotes du Forez is a red wine produced by Cave Verdier Logel in Marcilly le Chatel, in the Rhône valley, and obtained from pure Gamay grapes. The grapes come from 50-year-old vines on basalt soil, the winemaking takes place through semi-carbonic maceration for 10 days, with then refinement for 5 months in steel. The Vulcanique Gamay Cotes du Forez is mineral and slightly vinous on the nose, with floral and fruity hints. In the mouth it is fresh and slender, light but with persistence and in fact it is worth trying with goat’s cheese

The Cave Verdier Logel estate extends over approximately 18 hectares, most of which are cultivated with Gamay and fall within the Côtes du Forez denomination. This is characterized by soil rich in granite and basalt on old volcanic mounds.
The remaining hectares are dedicated to various white grape varieties such as Pinot Gris and Viognier, falling within the PGI Vins de Pays d’Urfé, and other white grapes, such as Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and red grapes such as Syrah and Malbec.
It is a family story that begins when Odile and Jacky Logel decide to take over the family vineyards to develop the production of Côtes du Forez and vinify their grapes organically. This know-how was passed on to their nephew Maxime and daughter Julie.
The winery began its activity in 1992 with the establishment of Jacky Logel who took over his father-in-law’s estate and which initially counted on 8 hectares of vineyards in Gamay alone. The conversion to organic came in 1997. It was an innovative approach at the time, and allowed them to forcefully enter a developing market with great potential.
In the same year, Odile decided to help her husband and the company took its current name, EARL CAVE VERDIER LOGEL.
The revitalization project of the Côtes du Forez vineyard began with raising the family’s awareness of other local producers, so that they could raise the quality of their production; this led to the creation of the denomination in 2000, allowing the territory to be known throughout the world
