Half of the mass withers in the sun for at least a month on special drying racks, the other half reaches phenolic maturation on the plant, normally in September. This second half is used as a fermentation base, then the other 50% is added in order to leave everything to macerate for approximately 90 days. The long process then involves aging for 3 and a half months in barrique and 6 months in steel
Fragrant, with hints of candied fruit, honey and sweet spices
Like all great sweet wines, the acid base is important as is the structure, delicious and with an almondy finish
Serving temperature 12°-16°

Contrada Fornara Samperi, Marsala, Sicily
Veronelli and Stefi rightly define Marco De Bartoli as a milestone in Italian viticulture, founder of a company, a heavenly Cerberus, between Samperi, 12 km from Marsala, and Bukkuram in Pantelleria.
Now in the saddle are Sebastiano and Giuseppina, the children of Marco, who passed away in 2011 too young.
Marco is described as a worthy Sicilian, volcanic and dreamer, impetuous and sunny, proud and southernist, defender of his land and his wine tradition, critical when it comes to those who have cleared Marsala or ruined Sicily. Bold and unrepeatable.
We at Apewineboxes would have loved to meet him in person, unfortunately it’s not possible; however we can respect it in appreciating its wonders. It makes us feel closer to him.
The company icon is Vecchio Samperi, a splendid Marsala which however is not fortified and therefore does not fall within the specifications of Marsala Vergine. A unique wine.
