Saumur Champigny Franc de Pied 2020, Cabernet Franc
From a micro plot of sandy soil. Free-range vines, saplings planted 1 metre x 1 metre (10,000 vines per hectare). Vinified in wooden vats. Only 900 bottles produced. Purest and unmediated expression of Cabernet Franc. It opens with Violet, then Currant, Blueberry and Raspberry, slightly smoky notes and great minerality. Sip fine and elegant, tasty, with barely noticeable tannin and persistent flavour.
Saumur Champigny La Marginale 2018, Cabernet Franc
Vinified in wooden vats. Malolactic fermentation and 24 months ageing in 228 and 400 litre unroasted barriques. The last few vintages have marked a strong stylistic change in this wine, due to the great work done in the vineyard. Dark petal flowers, red fruits, undergrowth, humus, herbaceous and mineral hints. Slender, fine and elegant on the palate, with polite tannins and a long finish.
Saumur Champigny Terres Chaudes 2020, Cabernet Franc
Vinification in cement. Maturation in 60 hl wooden barrels. Intense and complex, red fruits and dark petal flowers, cinchona, coffee and leather. An agile, fresh and elegant wine with ripe tannins and an excellent savoury finish.

Domaine Des Roches Neuves was founded in 1993 thanks to the incredible tenacity and will of Thierry German who, originally from Bordeaux, moved to Saumur in the early 1990s where he met his mentor and spiritual father Charly Foucault of Clos Rougeard.
Thierry Germain was one of the 2.0 pioneers of the biodynamic movement in the whole area, and is now rightfully among the best biodynamic farms in France, with very high yields of between 30 and 15 hectolitres per hectare.
The Domaine offers many variations on the Saumur Champigny appellation, the main grape variety being Cabernet Franc, but beware, you could easily fall in love with an unusual wine made from Chenin Blanc, called l'Insolite, the house white.
