Very often we are led to think that if a wine does not come from a well-known country and which floods us with hectoliters every year, then that wine will be little evolved in technical terms and less valid overall.
In reality, Eastern Europe as a geographical area includes many countries, Greece, Romania, Moldova, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Georgia and Bulgaria, and in each of them the vine arrived thousands and thousands of years ago.
In Moldavia, Bulgaria and Georgia the vine was widely present in pre-Roman times; in other countries, however, it was the Romans and Greeks who exported viticulture and the care of its fruit.
Here wine has always been produced in a traditional, natural way and without chemistry in the vineyard.
