Marco is a man of many facets, truly surprising. Of Calabrian origins but Roman by adoption, he is a winemaker you don’t expect. For many reasons.
We met him in the center of Rome and while we were tasting his incredible Cesanesi, a Senator of the Republic recognized him and started discussing with him. With infinite modesty Marco had certainly not mentioned to us that he was an important researcher at the University of Pisa specializing in infectious diseases.
His life unfolds between the University laboratories and his beloved vineyards, raised strictly organically. There are just under 3 hectares of vines, with a slightly above average planting density, per company philosophy. Once again a feeling of denial of the cliché arises. He uses Spanish and Tuscan amphorae.
Cesanesi del Piglio not opulent, ultra drinkable and delicious. Natural.
Cantina Falcone does not use any chemical agents in the vineyard, even where not doing so entails serious production risks. Does not use shortcuts in the Cellar. The company’s wines are characterized by a total sulfur content of approximately 10 mg/litre.
