Gioia del Colle Primitivo Riserva is a great red wine produced by Fatalone in Gioia del Colle in Puglia. It is a very well-known wine and is obtained from 100% Primitivo grapes, which are macerated for 2/3 weeks before being pressed and placed in large Slavonian oak barrels for 12-month refinement with music therapy, and finally bottled for another 6 months. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation carried out spontaneously with maceration in steel at a controlled temperature for 15-20 days. It refines 12 months in steel and another 12 in 750 liter Slavonian oak barrels with music therapy to promote micro-oxygenation and refinement of the Primitivo. No clarification, stabilization or filtration.
Ultra complex: dried violet, then red fruits, black cherry, plum and blackberry. Followed by notes of undergrowth and very mineral and salty returns. Then again carob and cloves, typical of Primitivi aged in wood in Gioia del Colle. Aromatic herbs and spices on the finish
Round and warm but incredibly slim, velvety tannins, savory and very long. Almondy on the finish.

The history of Cantina Fatalone is romantic, in every sense.
Not only love for wine but also for women, and precisely for this last passion, Nicola Petrera, the future founder of the company, took the nickname of Fatalone, at the end of the eighteenth century.
