Lambrusco is the symbolic vine of the region, even mentioned by Pliny the Elder, and it seems that its name derives from Vitis Labrusca, a robust and wild species of vine that has also been found in North America.

What is certain, following archaeological findings, is that in the seventh century B.C. viticulture was already practised.
