Between valleys, forests and pastures, in an area of 80km by 5km behind the Jura Massif, lies this wonderful area already praised by Pliny the Younger in 80 AD.
Before the advent of phylloxera in the Jura, there were already more than 20,000 hectares under vine, a sign of the benevolence of the terroir and in particular of the marl soil, which was further enriched by granite, limestone and marine fossils dating back at least 65 million years. It was the Cretaceous period that marked the definitive regression of sea water from the continent.
