Among valleys, woods and pastures, in an area of 80km by 5km close to the Jura Massif, this wonderful area unfolds, already praised by Pliny the Younger in 80 AD.
Before the advent of Phylloxera in the Jura there were already more than 20,000 hectares of vines, a sign of the benevolence of the terroir and in particular of the Marnic soil further enriched by granite, limestone and marine fossils dating back to at least 65 million years ago, it was that of Cretaceous period which marked the definitive regression of sea water from the continent.
