Matassa Tattouine 2022

Tattouine is a rosé wine produced by Matassa di Tom Lubbe in Calce, in Languedoc Roussillon, and obtained from Grenache Gris and Grenache Noir grapes, coming from vineyards located on soil rich in shale. Manual harvest and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and 3-week maceration in cement. Aging for a few months, always in cement, then in the bottle, without filtration or clarification or addition of sulfur dioxide. On the nose, Tattouine is rich in hints of red fruits and undergrowth, floral and mineral notes; when tasted it is fresh and thirst-quenching, light and tasty to combine with pasta alla genevose.

Tom Lubbe, from South Africa to a small village of 300 people in Roussillon, without return.

It was 2002 and in a short time Tom became a cult producer not only for the wonderful terroir of Calce.

His wines are tense, nervous and mineral like the granite on which the old sapling vines are planted, at the same time graceful and ethereal, like the wind that unfailingly combs those wild hills.
