Matija Zerjav, known as Matic, is a young and talented winemaker representing the third generation of family winemakers in the Štajerska region of Slovenian Styria.
The winters here are harsh with large temperature swings that guarantee freshness of the grapes, the soil is rich in marl, so the plants have to dig deep to find nourishment, and as Antonio says, when the vine suffers, it is at its best.
Matic is a 9-hectare farm, all biodynamically managed, where it produces Furmint in all its variations, Kerner, Pinot Grigio and a few internationals.
