Saumur Les Pentes du Clos is a white wine produced by Michel Chevrè in Courchamps, in the Loire Valley. The Chenin Blanc grapes are harvested by hand. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and rapid maceration in barriques, 1/3 of which are new and 2/3 not of first passage. Ageing takes place in 1200 litre barrels for one year. Saumur Les Pentes du Clos boasts a floral and citrus nose with smoky hints, in the mouth it is fresh and full-bodied, savoury and persistent, very well suited to pairing with Chinese rice dishes.

Michel Chevrè began his exclusion in the world of wine in 1992 when he started working as cellar manager at the Domaine des Roches Neuves of the famous Thierry Germain.
Since 2007, he has owned a small plot of Chenin Blanc in Courchamps, under the Saumur AOC appellation. In 2009, he started making wine using the Germain cellar, thus giving birth to Clos de l'Ecotard.
Chevrè wine production is characterised by a non-interventionist approach in the vineyard and the use of indigenous yeasts in the cellar for spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in barrels.
