The grapes come from soils rich in slate, manual harvesting and destemming, fermentation with maceration for 48 hours in steel and subsequent refinement in the same container for approximately 9 months, rest in the bottle for at least another 3 months

Urzig, Moselle
Family business of Messrs Johannes and Doris Schmitz with a 7 hectare vineyard property in the municipality of Urzig, the heart of the Moselle, opposite Bernkastel.
Most of the ungrafted vineyards are found on the steep slopes of the Crus Ürziger Würzgarten and Erdener Treppchen.
Würzgarten is divided into two types of soil: red slate, which gives spicy minerality and elegance, and volcanic rock (Rotliegendes) which gives structure and softness in the Riesling. The company puts the wording ‘Alten Rebe’ on the label only if the wines come from vines that are at least 60 years old. Since the 2015 harvest the wines have been vegan.
Between the cities of Trier and Koblenz along the Moselle River, we find one of the best wine districts in Germany; The vineyards extend along the steep banks of the river which winds tortuous for around 200 km through fascinating scenery.
The volcanic soils, the extreme slopes of the vineyards, the cold climate, the tenacity and dedication of the German winemakers
they allow the creation of the finest, most rigorous white wines with unique tertiary potential that make them the most
long-lived in the world.
