Secula was born in what we can define as the best area ever for the production of Lambrusco di Sorbara and Lambrusco Salamino; in practice this area between San Prospero and Sozzigalli, with its loose and sandy, well-drained soils, can undoubtedly be defined as Cru.
The owners, Dino Lugli and Gabriele Valentini, can count on an area of 15 hectares, mostly cultivated with fruit; there are 4 hectares of vineyards with Lambrusco di Sormara, Salamino and Grechetto Gentile with a casarsa system which preserves the maturity of the grapes and their acidity.
The goal in the vineyard is to achieve zero chemical residue while also eliminating Sulfur and Copper. Everything happens naturally except the fermentation which is controlled.
The wines rest for 6 months in steel and are then refermented in the bottle and refined for a period that varies from 4 months for the sparkling wines to 4 years for the Classic Method wines.
