Somlò, Hungary
Two and a half hectares of vineyard, on the western slope of the Somlò hill, which looks more like a garden.
Tomcsànyi is a family-run business where, with respect for nature and tradition, the indigenous grape varieties of the area are cultivated, such as Hárslevelű, Furmint, Juhfark plus Riesling Italico and Chardonnay.
In the vineyard, very low quantities of sulphur and copper are used in addition to treatments with orange macerates and herbal infusions; in the cellar, fermentation takes place spontaneously using indigenous yeasts and the wines are matured in wood or amphorae. For some years now, not even sulphur dioxide has been added.
The labels are inspired by three symbols, distinctive elements for Arpad wines: the land (the Somló hill), the grape cluster, and man.
