Secula

Courtyard of Carpi, Emilia Romagna Secula originates in what we can define as the absolute best area for the production of Lambrusco di Sorbara and Lambrusco Salamino; in practice, this area between San Prospero and Sozzigalli, with its loose, sandy, well-drained soils, can undoubtedly be defined as Cru. The owners, Dino Lugli and Gabriele Valentini, can count on an area of 15 hectares, cultivated mostly with fruit; there are 4 hectares planted with Lambrusco di Sorbara, Salamino and Grechetto Gentile with a casarsa system that preserves the ripeness of the grapes and their acidity. The objective in the vineyard is to achieve zero chemical residue, eliminating sulphur and copper as well. Everything is done naturally except fermentation, which is controlled. The wines stay 6 months in steel and then re-ferment in the bottle and age for a period ranging from 4 months for the sparkling wines to 4 years for the Metodo Classico.
