When we talk about Spain we are talking about the second world producer of wine behind only Italy, the first producer ever in terms of use of native vines.

The history of the vine in this country is very ancient, even pre-Roman, in all probability it was imported by the Carthaginians, and in fact already in the second century BC. there is news of the trade of Iberian wines in Rome.

The Spanish wine tradition also continued under Arab domination and was further strengthened in the thirteenth century thanks to the Christians, who gave impetus to the production and export of local products.

In 1500 the wines of Jerez achieved great commercial success, especially among the English, and this was due to the ease with which the fortified wines could be transported by ship.

Aside from the Jerez area, those of Rioja, the first Spanish Designation of Origin in 1925, Catalunya and Ribera del Duero are also very well known.
