Saint Estephe, Bordeaux
The name of the estate derives from its geographical position on the Cos hill and from the name of François Labory, who was its first owner until 1845. Mr. d’Estournel purchased it before selling it to an English banker, Charles Martyns in 1852 The property was eventually taken over by George Weber in the 1930s, who bequeathed it to his daughter and son-in-law, François Audoy, in 1959.
In 1971, the couple also purchased the neighboring estate, Château Andron Blanquet. Their sons worked with them on the two businesses for a few years, until the eldest of the two, Bernard, took over management of the properties. Bernard is a strong, practical manager with a calm and reassuring manner. He has always lived in Saint-Estèphe and is perfectly emblematic of his estate, his wines and the appellation he has presided over since 2000.
Chateau Cos Labory extends over eighteen hectares, at the top of the Cos hill, composed of Quaternary gravelly soils and exceptional drainage. The density of vines per hectare is high.
Over time, the changes occurred gradually through huge investments in technology, in particular a very modern vat and a new cellar.
