Avize, Champagne
Erik De Sousa, the third generation of vignerons in his family, founded his Maison in 1986 but only a few years ago he effectively entered the elite of the Champagne world.
Erk is a small artisan Recoltant from Avize, covering 11 hectares and producing around 70,000 bottles per year but which can boast vineyards, often with almost centenary plants, in many Grand Crus as well as in Avize and also in Oger, Le Mesnil sur Oger, in Ay, Cramant and Ambonnay, the elective home of Pinot Noir.
Alongside the main production and aimed at a niche audience, it offers a new line, Zoemiè De Sousa, designed for a more varied audience and with decidedly more accessible prices.
His approach is decidedly natural (and biodynamic), in the vineyard, where he has been certified organic since 2010, as well as in the cellar, his Champagnes are unique and with a very strong personality
