Formica Rossa is a red wine produced by Colleformica in Velletri, in the southernmost part of the Castelli Romani, overlooking the Pontine plain and the Tyrrhenian Sea. The Sangiovese grapes are harvested manually, the fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts and the maceration lasts about a week. Aged in steel and fiberglass for approximately 6 months, it is bottled with a homeopathic dose of added sulfur dioxide, without filtration or clarification. Formica Rossa is perfect for a barbecue, fresh and lean, savory and delicate, the tannin is gentle and the finish is long. On the nose many wild herbs and floral hints of rose, red fruits and blood orange, earthy and mineral notes.

Velletri (Rome)
ColleFormica was born in 2017 in an area with a thousand-year-old tradition. In reality, the Bombetti family has been producing wine here (and not only) for more than a century, in fact it is not unusual, walking through the rows, to come across vineyards that are almost half a century old. The vegetation also includes centuries-old oaks and orange trees, testifying to the absolutely Mediterranean climate of the entire area.
The company takes its name from the district where the vineyards are located in a hilly area a few kilometers from the sea and the city of Rome. The territory, that of the Castelli Romani, is volcanic and this, then translated into winemaking, gives the wines an elegance truly worthy of attention.
The winery is very young but is enjoying great success among lovers of natural wine thanks to its ease of drinking and bewitching aromas.
The owner of the company is Eng. Sergio Bombetti who learned to make wine as a boy thanks to his father’s teachings and is ready to hand over the helm to his son Paolo, a graduate in economics but now an expert winemaker in all respects.
ColleFormica represents an extraordinary combination of native vines (well, even Primitivo can be defined as such) and natural winemaking approach (sulphur below 20 mg/litre ) and environmentally friendly.
