Maldafrica 2020 Cos

Maldafrica is a red wine produced by Azienda Agricola Cos in Vittoria, Sicily, and obtained from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, harvested manually. The grapes come from rich red soils rich in sand and limestone, and ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in cement with maceration for a few days. The refinement takes place in Slavonian oak barrels for 8 months, then the wine is bottled with a homeopathic addition of sulfur dioxide, and here it rests for about 6 months. Maldafrica is a wine rich in nuances with evolved hints of flowers and red fruits, spicy and balsamic, mineral and salty notes. In the mouth it is powerful and elegant, medium-bodied and with velvety tannins. Try it with horse meat!

Did you know that COS is the acronym of the initials of the names of the three founders of the company?

They are Titta Cilia, Giusto Occhipinti, Cirino Strano and they gave birth to COS in 1980.

The three inherited (for rent) the old family cellar of Giuseppe Cilia, father of Titta and vineyard.

In these 30 years of experience they have revolutionized Cerasuolo di Vittoria.

They profess the Biodionic “faith” and minimal intervention in the vineyard.

Theirs is also very interesting with the Spanish amphorae purchased now, 20 years ago
