We are in the easternmost region of Austria, in Kamptal, where the Hager family has owned 20 hectares of land for several generations. Of these, only 7 are now not used for viticulture, planted with wheat and fruit trees.
Initially it was a farm with many animals, but then Matthias’ father specialized in viticulture, and the rest is history.
The company has been biodynamically managed since 2005, the most bred varieties are Gruner Veltliner, Riesling and Zweigelt.
The production area is influenced by a rather harsh continental climate, with very cold winds and nights, typical of the Waldviertel area. The terrain is varied, ranging from clay to loess (i.e. sand), from schist to granite via gneiss.
The resulting wines are characterized by great drinkability and a very accentuated personality
