Madlieri is a Georgian expression which means giving thanks to nature and wants to celebrate the friendship between John Wurdeman of Pheasant’s Tears and (our friends from) Les Caves UK which is the basis of this project shared with the intent of producing great Georgian wines at an affordable price. The harvest is manual, the grapes ferment in terracotta amphorae coated with beeswax. The maceration lasts 10 days, the malolactic fermentation is carried out in Qvevri and refines until May. Very little added sulfur at bottling
Violet and dark berries, blueberries and dark currants, mineral and aromatic with hints of chocolate
Lively and agile on the palate but soft and with clearly visible tannins, great persistence and flavour
Serving temperature 10°-14°
Grilled Meats
Soft compared to Saperavi vinified individually
KAKHETI (Georgia)
From the passion for Georgian culture, music and traditions of the painter Jhon Wurdeman and from the knowledge of the different territories of the farmer and winemaker Gela Patalishvili, Pheasant’s Tears was born.
John Wurdeman‘s project aims to enhance the culture and historical tradition of Georgian wine.
The wines are vinified and aged, as per tradition, in Qvevri (amphora).
