Madlieri is a Georgian expression which means giving thanks to nature and wants to celebrate the friendship between John Wurdeman of Pheasant’s Tears and (our friends from ) Les Caves UK who are behind this shared project with the aim of producing great Georgian wines at an affordable price. It is interesting how Vardisperi is a pink-skinned mutation of Rkatsiteli with gentler tannins and generally softer characteristics. As per tradition, the harvest takes place manually, the grapes ferment at room temperature in terracotta Qvevri lined with beeswax, then macerate for 30 days on the skins. The production involves decanting into another Qvevri, where the malolactic fermentation takes place and rests until May, finally assembly and bottling with very little added sulphur.
Light floral tones then above all peach and pink grapefruit, herbaceous and mineral notes.
Fresh and tannic, ultra drinkable, delicate and persistent
Serving temperature 12°-14°
Fried Pork
Defining it as a niche would still be an understatement: Privilege
KAKHETI (Georgia)
From the passion for Georgian culture, music and traditions of the painter Jhon Wurdeman and from the knowledge of the different territories of the farmer and winemaker Gela Patalishvili, Pheasant’s Tears was born.
John Wurdeman‘s project aims to enhance the culture and historical tradition of Georgian wine.
The wines are vinified and aged, as per tradition, in Qvevri (amphora).
