Lagenwein Riesling Schnait Altenberg is a white wine produced by Weingut Andi Knauss in Obrigheim Pfalz and obtained from manually harvested Riesling grapes. Spontaneous fermentation from indigenous yeasts and aging for 10 months in large wood, it is bottled without additions except a homeopathic dose of sulfur dioxide. Lagenwein Riesling Schnait Altenberg on the nose denotes hints of citrus, apricot and also green apple, then ginger and anise arrive, while on the palate it is fresh and tonic, savory and bold, to be combined with molluscs and crustaceans

Strumpfelbach, Germany
The Knauss are a family of winemakers for several generations, who have always supplied grapes to the local cooperative. This was until 2004 when Andreas, Horst’s son, decided to start his own business and found his company a>.
We are located in Strumpfelbach, in the Remstal area, east of Stuttgart, and in the west of Germany, between Luxembourg, France and Switzerland, in the Baden Württemberg region.
Andreas is a young and talented producer, who gained the necessary work experience in Austria to slowly build his property, which today has 14 hectares of vineyards and 100 different plots, all worked organically.
The terroir is marly limestone, at an altitude of 400 meters above the level of the Rems river.
Andi’s approach is hardly interventionist, in the vineyard or in the cellar, and lets his wines speak for him, calibrated, engaging and expressive
