Castell'Arquato, Piacenza

Distina is the half-distillery, half-winery company, founded in 2017 by Claudio Campaner, who wanted to rediscover his family's traditions starting with the one hectare of vineyard he owned.

Now the estate covers 6 hectares, 3 of which are vineyards, between the Val d'Arda and Val Ongina, in the hills of Piacenza.

In the vineyard, interventions are reduced to a minimum with the provision of homeopathic doses of sulphur and copper and grassing; similarly, in the cellar there is no use of selected yeasts, fermentations are spontaneous and the wines are neither filtered nor clarified.

The grapes grown are those typical of the area, Malvasia di Candia, Moscato Bianco, Barbera, Croatina and Ortrugo, with the intruder, with citizenship, Marsanne, who arrived in the valley at the beginning of the 19th century.

After vinification, the spent marc passes into the skilful hands of Vittorio Capovilla to be distilled and finally returned to the soil as fertiliser.
