Rocca San Giovanni, Abruzzo Within the SCI protected area Fosso delle Farfalle Vincenzo Di Meo runs Controvento, a 16,000-bottle per year winery from just 5 hectares of vineyards. The company is certified organic but is biodynamic in its practices; the vineyards are a few kilometres from the sea, benefiting from the breezes. No chemicals are used in the vineyard as well as in the cellar, where not even the addition of pre-bottling sulphur is allowed. In Vincenzo's idea, which we fully share, healthy grapes simply require healthy soil and preserved biodiversity. The grapes grown are those typical of the area, Montepulciano, Trebbiano, Passerina and Fiano, as well as the international Cabernet Sauvignon.
