It is vinified in steel tanks and then aged for a year in wooden containers of different sizes, ranging from 225 litres to 1,000 litres. White flowers, especially Zagara, and wild flowers, citrus notes, herbaceous returns and lots of minerality. Fresh and savoury, powerful and fine with super length.
Integer Zibibbo 2020
Low yield, in contact with the skins for about 10 days in used barrels where it matures for at least another 10 months on the fine lees. Zagara and Fior Arancio, exotic fruit such as Mango and Pineapple, light citrus notes and mineral pushes, then Almond and finally herbs. Excellent acidity, light and enjoyable, mineral and with good persistence

Red of Marco 2020, Pignatello
Short maceration in steel vats followed by 6 months' maturation in steel and then one year in oak barrels. Rose and violet, lots of berries and the usual mineral notes. Fresh and savoury, very drinkable, the tannin is vigorous and the finish medium-long and tasty
Bukkuram Father of the Vine 2014, Zibibbo
Half of the mass withers in the sun for at least a month in special drying racks, the other half reaches phenolic maturation in the plant, normally in September. This second half is then used as a fermentation base, after which the other 50% is added in order to let everything macerate for about 90 days. The lengthy process then involves 3½ months of ageing in barriques and 6 months in steel. Fragrant, with hints of candied fruit, honey and sweet spices. Like all great sweet wines the acid base is important as is the structure, delicious with an almondy finish

The grapes have a very low yield, produced using the Solera Method, aged in oak and chestnut barrels. Spectacular, notes of caper and dried fruit, especially walnut, brackish. Practically acidic, very fresh and very savoury, with an alien persistence

Contrada Fornara Samperi, Marsala, Sicily
Veronelli and Stefi rightly define Marco De Bartoli as a milestone in Italian viticulture, founder of a company, a heavenly Cerberus, between Samperi, 12 km from Marsala, and Bukkuram on Pantelleria.
Now in the saddle are Sebastiano and Giuseppina, the children of Marco, who died in 2011 too young.
Marco is described as a worthy Sicilian, volcanic and dreamy, impetuous and sunny, proud and southerner, defender of his land and its wine tradition, critical when it comes to those who have cleared Marsala or ruined Sicily. Fearless and unrepeatable.
We at Apewineboxes would have loved to meet him in person, unfortunately this is not possible; however, we can respect him in appreciating his wonders. It makes us feel closer to him.
The company's icon is the Vecchio Samperi, a splendid Marsala that is, however, not fortified and therefore does not fall within the specifications for Marsala Vergine. A unique wine.
