Ostra Vetere, Marche

Costantino Mariani Fratini personally takes care of the historic vineyard in Ostra, which is organically certified, from winter pruning to harvesting strictly by hand, from processing the grapes to labelling each bottle by hand.

It is here that its wines of absolute uniqueness and naturalness are born with spontaneous fermentation and without filtration.

Lacrima di Morro d'Alba, which is grown only in the province of Ancona and neighbouring municipalities, is an early-sprouting red grape, which exposes it to the return of cold spring weather, so it is essential to position the vineyards correctly, excluding the areas at the bottom of the valley where the layers of cold air that slide down the hillsides can be stationary.

Its clusters are of medium size, the berries are dark blue in colour, with a thick skin, rich in polyphenols but so delicate that they break easily at the end of ripening, giving rise to the characteristic lacrimation, and this explains the origin of the
