🛁 Madlieri is a Georgian expression intended to give thanks to nature and to celebrate the friendship between John Wurdeman of Pheasant's Tears and (our friends at) Les Caves UK that underlies this shared project to produce great Georgian wines at an affordable price. Interestingly, Vardisperi is a pink-skinned mutation of Rkatsiteli with gentler tannins and generally softer characteristics. The grapes are fermented at room temperature in terracotta Qvevri lined with beeswax and macerated on the skins for 30 days. Production involves racking into another Qvevri, where malolactic fermentation takes place and the wine rests until May, and finally blending and bottling with very little sulphur added.
👃🏻 Light floral tones then mainly peach and pink grapefruit, herbaceous and mineral notes.
👅 Fresh and Tannic, ultra-drinkable, delicate and persistent
👍🏻 Serving temperature 12°-14°.
💕 Fried pork
😍 To call it niche would still be reductive: Privilege
