Minimal introduction to the Langhe

Minimal introduction to the Langhe

To speak of the Langhe in general terms is impossible: such a vast area is difficult to describe in a book, let alone in an article!

Let's try it anyway: we are in Italy, in Piedmont, the hilly area in the provinces of Cuneo and Alba, where an important number of excellent wines originate. Here viticulture has always been part of civilization, even if there have been periods of abandonment of the countryside, especially during the first part of the twentieth century when most of the farmers preferred to move to the cities (Alba and Turin) to devote themselves to the industrial sector.

Today, the situation has changed and many realities, historical or otherwise, compete for the attention of wine lovers. There are many denominations, in addition to the kings of Barolo and Barbaresco, it is impossible not to mention Dolcetto d'Alba, Pelaverga, Nascetta and Barbera d'Alba.

There are many wineries, from small family businesses to giants with millions of bottles a year, passing through historic cooperatives. Drinking a Piedmontese wine is always an experience not only of taste but also of history, trying to deepen how the wine we have in our glass stands in front of such an articulated and interesting history.

I conclude by recommending that you buy one of our dedicated boxes, so that you can combine theory and practice: because only by tasting can you better understand an area, and even more so an area as fundamental to Italian wine as the Langhe!
